FROM ACTOR TO PRODUCER

Jim began his creative journey as an actor, performing on both stage and screen. His theatre credits include Journey’s Endat Sydney’s Seymour Centre, while his screen work includes playing the role of Private Bates in Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge (a very short role). He has appeared in Feature Films and Series alongside celebrated talent, including:

  • Samara Weaving (Nine Perfect Strangers, Ready or Not, Babylon),

  • Simon Westaway (Underbelly, The Great Bookie Robbery, Blue Heelers),

  • Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill, Man on Fire, The Shack), and

  • Adam Demos (Sex/Life, Falling Inn Love, UnREAL).

These formative experiences helped shape Jim’s unique understanding of the actor’s process—both in performance and on set.

Jim’s biggest problem was that he quickly realised he was never the best actor in the room. He realised his passion realised in helping elevate other talented people, be it writers, directors but most of all - emerging actors.

Jim made a decision to pursue producing instead as he wanted to focus on helping other actors who were far better than him rise to the top. Jim’s philosophy was built upon a famous quote:

“He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches.” - George Bernard Shaw (Oscar winner, Nobel Prize Winner)

Transitioning into production, Jim worked across departments on major studio features including The Great Gatsby, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Hacksaw Ridge, learning from Oscar-winning filmmakers and heads of department. He is now an AACTA-nominated producer known for discovering new talent and producing internationally acclaimed work such as Moon Rock for Monday and Extreme Animal Transport.

He has played a key role in casting actors who have gone on to global success, including Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) and Samara Weaving. Jim has collaborated with legendary directors such as Anton Corbijn and Alex Proyas, and continues to work with top-level talent, including Academy Award-winning cinematographers, editors, and designers.
